Why Volunteer with Destino?
By the year 2050, 25% of the US population will be of Latino and Hispanic descent. In New York City, there are currently half a million Mexicans, one million Dominicans, and more Puerto Ricans than in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Furthermore, Latino college enrollment rates are increasing at the same rate as their population growth. If evangelical campus ministry cannot adjust to the changing demographics, we will be reaching a culture that no longer exists.
Beyond simply recognizing our ministry importance, we also believe we know what it takes to do it successfully which is why we provide our volunteers with 5 things:
Kingdom Vision
The experiences you’ve had in life shape your vision for making a kingdom impact. What you are investing your life in NOW will affect how you use your time and talents, your gifts and resources in the years to come. Kingdom vision is this idea of seeing how you best fit into God’s big plan which then influences your decisions and choices. As you take inventory of your life today, how will you live out your kingdom vision at work, in your neighborhood, and in your church?
Team
Ecc. 4 says, “It’s better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work...and if one falls down, the other helps.” This is not just a group of people to have fellowship with, but men and women who are fully surrendered to Jesus and leading lives of kingdom impact. Join us to pray, help each other walk with God, and “go out” very intentionally to love and serve those who don’t know Jesus.
Plan
"If you aim at nothing you’ll hit it every time." Unless you’re a trained chef or just incredibly gifted, most people don’t walk into a kitchen and whip up a gourmet meal without a recipe. In the same way, you need a plan with simple, doable steps that will help you begin to implement your God-given vision. Having a plan is all about being intentional and taking steps toward your kingdom vision.

Coaching
Proverbs stresses the importance of gaining wisdom from others. We can never underestimate the blessing of another who has gone before us and learned a thing or two along the way. A coach is just that person: someone to answer your questions, help you and your “team” when you are stuck, and encourage you when the going gets tough.
